If you’ve noticed the rising cost of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) in the last few years, you may be surprised to know that there is a way around it. Here are Three Quick Tips to increase your online presence without paying thousands of dollars for SEO.
1) Add a Blog to your Website
Incorporating a blog into your website only works if you are publishing posts consistently. By frequently adding pages with rich text to your website, you are giving Google fresh new content to index. The more content you have, the more possibilities you have to show up in a search.
We recommend using WordPress because of it’s simplicity. Here are a list of SEO best practices that can be used easily on WordPress (Found on Razorlight Media’s Blog):
- Adjusting meta tags (title, description, keywords)
- Linking to other pages on your site directly
- Linking blog posts together using tags, categories, and archives
- Proper formatting (heading tags, bold and italicized text, etc)
- SEO-friendly URLs (WordPress calls these “Permalinks”)
- In addition to these, WordPress has a huge list of plugins that can add functionality to do just about anything else you could want
2) Get on Google+
Yes, there may not be many people in your circle that use Google+. But for business, that isn’t what it’s all about. When posting on Google+, use keywords for your business. Those keywords are indexed with Google and will help you gain page rank. Google+ can increase the amount of times you appear on the first page of a search from multiple posts with proper keyword usage.
According to Social Media Today, “Google Plus content stays around, gains page rank, gives page rank and appears in search results over a long period. It appears Google Plus posts can retain ranking indefinitely with some posts over a year old still top of search result pages.”
Take Advantage of the SMO (Social Media Optimization) sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ have. “Social media optimization (SMO) refers to the use of a number of social media outlets and communities to generate publicity to increase the awareness of a product, brand or event,” says Wikipedia. SMO differs from traditional SEO in that it has a focus on valuable content and the user experience. Again, using industry-specific keywords in the description on your pages and in individual posts can improve your rankings. Linking all of the platforms you are on to each other and to your website, making a circle of flowing content, is how you increase your searchability and your visilibility.

Remember, it is your consistent presence on these platforms that can increase your SEO. Merely having a blog, Google+, or any other social media page isn’t going to help anything. It takes time and an interactive presence to build your visibility.

What is more important, SMO or SEO? Why would I want to optimize my social media pages to show up before my own website in the search engine rankings?
We recommend both, but we don’t think you should have to spend thousands of dollars on SEO. Utilizing both to a degree will help you to show up multiple times on the first page – website included. Having your company show up multiple times on that first page gives more content for your potential clients to view immediately, building your credibility instantly.
